About the Role

Multi skill builder operating within different client projects and environments requires you to be ambitious to learn and eager to develop into both a skilled site carpenter and the opportunity to develop a wide range of building skills - having an increasing interest in a practical industrial focussed role within a busy and demanding schedule.

  • You will cover a wide range of creative joinery aspects from new kitchens, bathrooms to bedrooms, interiors and extensions
  • Carry out a range of job tasks including measuring, marking out, fitting, cutting, splicing, finishing, positioning and securing
  • Install door and window frames, door and hatch linings, floor joist coverings, straight partitions and straight staircases
  • Install doors, ironmongery, service encasements, wall and floor units and fitments, cladding and staircase components
  • Erect inclined roofs with gables, joists, roof coverings and roof components
  • Repair or replace frames, mouldings, doors, windows, door and window ironmongery, roofing components, guttering and downpipes and window components
  • Use, maintain and store hand tools, power tools and associated equipment
  • General Work – learning multiple skills across different disciplines, site housekeeping and maintenance
  • Adopt the role of onsite Health & Safety Ambassador 
Candidates will ensure they have sustainable transport to reach our pick up location in the Sheffield post code regions of S10 & S11
  • Sustained employment and further accredited training for the committed and eager to learn candidate with progression to advanced (craft) carpentry apprenticeship

About the Training

  • Apprentice Standard Carpentry & Joinery Level 2 (Site Pathway)
  • Scheduled 2 week block sessions at Sheffield College City Campus throughout duration
  • Granville Road, Sheffield S2 2RL

Hawkins Builders is a construction company that prides itself in providing excellent service. It was established by Thomas Hawkins, a qualified primary school teacher and DIY enthusiast. Having struggled with unsatisfactory builders when completing work on his own home, he decided to start building his own extensions. He left teaching and pursued a career in building with the aim of providing others with the same level of quality and excellence that he put into his own home.
