About the Role

Abbey Glen is one the oldest independent laundries in the UK and we offer this role to develop your knowledge and skills within a variety of engineering processes and maintenance techniques to provide a comprehensive support service; conducting maintenance and pre planned maintenance on machinery.

Reporting to the Workshop Manager:

Main Duties:

  • Crucial to the work of organisation in ensuring our machinery is operating allowing the production team to meet customer orders
  • Conducting maintenance and pre planned maintenance on machinery
  • Diagnosing and repairing machinery
  • Identifying ways of improving equipment
  • Working with an experienced team to conduct all tasks of the engineering team
  • Ordering stock / spares for machinery and keeping inventory
  • Liaising with external contractors to develops skills and experience in supporting the team
  • Visiting trade shows to understand future developments
You must be both a technical and modern thinker with IT literacy skills. An ability to accurately complete job/task reports in either written or electronic format. Have the ability to adapt, improvise and overcome where necessary. Be looking to learn and advance for a secure, long-term future.

About the Training

  • Maintenance Operations Engineering Technician - Level 3 Apprentice Standard
  • Includes End Point Assessment
  • 1 day per week at Advanced Technology Centre (formerly Olive Grove Campus Engineering Centre) in term time

Abbey Glen is one the oldest independent laundries in the UK, with our roots beginning in the 1890’s. The business is owned by the same family as its founder, Albert Youle, and runs on a family ethos. We continually look to develop and grow and support our staff to do exactly the same. Our work is providing bed linen to the hospitality industry, serving major customers such as Center Parcs, Hilton Hotels and Travelodge.
