About the Role
We are looking for candidates over 18 years old (due to the nature of the role) who have a ‘can do’ attitude, outgoing and caring but have a calm demeanour when needed. You don't need to have experience but it is essential that you share our values.
- As long as you have a positive attitude and want to improve the lives of those with a learning disability, we will support you with progression opportunities throughout your career with us
- As a Support Worker for people with autism and learning disabilities you will be expected to provide an outstanding level of support that will help to ensure the people we support live a more independent, dignified and happy life
- We are looking for forward thinkers who can offer new ideas on how to develop a person’s opportunities and skills ranging from developing their own garden to cooking nutritious and different meals
- Not all support work will take place within the homes of the people we support
- There will be lots of opportunities to access the local community and engage with the interests of the people you support. They all have different interests and therefore we are looking for flexible and open minded candidates to support with activities such as walking, days out to the cinema or visits to the seaside to name a few
- On a daily basis you will have a strong support network from the rest of the team. We are a proactive team and work in partnership to ensure the best support for colleagues is provided, so don’t worry if you are new to care, there is always someone you can turn to
We need to ask all applicants whether they have any relevant criminal convictions and or pending investigation as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Relevant meaning offences against a person, whether violent or sexual, offences involving drugs or controlled substances, or theft. A declaration of a relevant Criminal Conviction will result in a Risk Assessment being carried out to determine whether the applicant poses a risk to the welfare or safety of others. This does not include warnings, cautions, reprimands and (for example) speeding fines/points.
You will be asked about this when we contact you to arrange a pre-screening Interview.
A YES ANSWER DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY EXCLUDE YOUR APPLICATION.
- Once you have your Level 2 qualification you can undergo your Level 3 which will give you more skills and knowledge and an increased pay rate
- Lots of our Support Workers move into other roles including Team Leader positions
About the Training
- Training will be at Doncaster College where you will access a wide range of facilities on offer
- Day release
- You will undertake the Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 standard
- You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or maths if needed
